The leader of the Finance portfolio and the
Church Treasurer is Jamie Harvie.
The
vision of the portfolio is to support the church in the faithful use of
our finances.
We view the good stewardship of money as a means to prosper God's
work in Great Ayton and beyond rather than as an end in itself. In
addition to keeping track of the Church's money, and producing
suitable accounts, the Finance portfolio supports the other
portfolio leaders by helping to agree realistic budgets. This
inevitably involves challenging the congregation as to the
appropriate levels of personal and corporate giving. |

The portfolio covers the following areas
-
Maintenance of church accounts
-
Ensuring that church money is used wisely in
accordance with Church Council policy and direction
-
Producing and controlling a balanced budget
-
Counting and banking Sunday offerings
-
Promoting and administering the Gift Aid and
Offering envelopes schemes
-
Ensuring all groups accounts are in order
-
Devising methods for funding major projects
-
Maintenance of Finance Policy
and procedures
Ways of giving The church relies on the regular giving of the
congregation to provide sufficient income to enable us to develop the
church's mission, maintain and heat the church buildings, as well as pay
the circuit assessment (which goes towards paying our ministers, the
upkeep of the manses and the mission and administration of the
whole Methodist Church). There are several ways
to give. Current budget statistics
