Children and Youth

The portfolio leader is the Children and Youth steward, Chris Stokeld

The vision of the portfolio is to nurture, teach and challenge young people to grow in faith and to discover and claim their identity as Christians.

The portfolio covers

J Team: leader Chris Stokeld (' 723573)

The J Team meet every Sunday morning at 10.30 am in 3 groups:

Age up to 3: J Tots - This is the crèche at the back of Church for parents to supervise their babies and toddlers whilst listening to the service.

Age 3-10: J Kids - meet in age groups in the Youth Hall for their activities.

Age 11+: J Biz - meet (term time only) in the cool basement room downstairs!

These groups have fun activities based around Bible stories, Christian themes, values and prayer. This usually includes a relevant game, story and follow up craft activity. At 11.15 am we join Church for contemporary all age worship, and share what we have done with the rest of the congregation.

Any children who wish to wave flags and ribbons have an opportunity to do so during some of the songs. We share prayers during part of the worship.

YG at the Manse: leader - Catherine Hutton

YG+ at the Manse:  leader - Catherine Hutton

Brownies: leader Alison Lambert

Girls of 7+ are welcome to join. The Brownies are very active and do lots of interesting things and are encouraged to develop their self-confidence and awareness of caring for others.

Guides: leader Sarah Davey (' 723467)

Guides are also sponsored by the  Church. Girls 10+ are welcome to join, even if they haven't been a Brownie. Guides do similar activities to Brownies but with added responsibilities. They do badge work and outdoor activities.

Mums and Toddlers: organiser Margaret Hopper (' 722044)

Mums, fathers, carers and toddlers meet in two session on Thursdays. Each year we arrange a Christmas party, a Christmas service and a summer trip.
